Healthcare VM Migration to Google Cloud
Business Challenge
DocDock is a healthcare application that was originally hosted on AWS proprietary AMI images. The application had legacy versions of Ruby on Rails along with dependent modules of passenger and gems that resulted in dependencies, maintenance challenges, and security concerns. DocDock turned to 66degrees to facilitate a seamless migration of their VMs to Google Cloud.
Business Solution
Develop a secure middleware application with a publicly facing REST API that allows read and write to the AMS. For example, the third-party application not only reads data from the AMS to generate the quotes, it also writes data back to the AMS about the purchased policy.
- 66degrees successfully migrated the entire application stack including the Postgres database and associated data storage into Google Cloud Platform.
- The initial phase involved a lift and shift migration while setting up an application restructure path as part of the next phase aimed at cost optimization.
- The new solution provides centralized logging and monitoring using Stackdriver improving efficiency.
Business Value Delivered
The migration has resulted in better performance of the application & has provided a platform for centralized logging & monitoring. It further helps the team effectively manage & support the application. The success of the migration paves the way for restructuring the application as part of the next phase.
Industry: Healthcare
