RepairPal Unlocks the Power of Infrastructure as Code
66degrees is the Managed Services Provider for RepairPal, including Managed Cloud Optimization Services. As part of these services, 66degrees managed the entire Google Cloud Platform implementation using infrastructure as code for RepairPal.
The Challenge
RepairPal was using a mix of infratructure as code and manual configurations to deploy and manage their cloud resources, leading to concerns over state management, operaqtional efficiency, and rollback capabilities. By expressing their GCP estate using Terraform, they could simplify maintenance, enable version control, and streamline change management.
The Solution
Starting with the non-production projects and progressing onto production, the 66degrees Managed Services Team initiated Terraform generation for each project using Bulk Export, a process that surfaced hundreds of errors requiring meticulous testing and resolution. 66degrees also conducted training sessions to enable RepairPal’s engineers to use Terraform effectively and efficiently.
The Result
The implementation of Terraform within RepairPal’s existing code repository provided a comprehensive representation of their GCP Projects, empowering RepairPal to effectively track changes, enhance collaboration, and easily revert to previous infrastructure states when necessary. This declarative approach of Terraform streamlined change management and added automation while reducing manual errors.
