Insights from a Woman Leader in Delivery Management

Insights from a Woman Leader in Delivery Management

What is the one thing you like the most about your role as VP of Delivery Management?

I appreciate the variety of challenges that arise each day in my work. It keeps things interesting and allows me to continuously learn and grow. This dynamic environment not only keeps me engaged but also gives me the opportunity to support our teams and clients in meaningful ways. With new problems to solve constantly, I never find myself feeling bored or stagnant.

How have you evolved into the successful delivery manager you are today?

I’ve been managing things since my childhood days playing in sandbox, leading sandcastle projects. Guiding projects has always felt natural to me, and during business school, I gravitated towards project management and technology. I’ve had quite the journey since then, managing custom CRM solutions and multimillion-dollar AI platforms at Verizon. I took some time off to freelance and travel, managing content and building websites while exploring the world. Then, I ventured into consulting, where I helped build a successful company, overseeing a large team of delivery managers and refining our methodology. After an acquisition, I shifted towards a product focus, but ultimately found my way back to my true passion: delivery management. That’s why I’m here at 66degrees, to make an impact where I’m needed most.

How inclusive has the tech industry been as a woman leader?

In my CIS classes, I often found myself among few women, so being outnumbered by males became the norm for me. This lopsided ratio has often made me doubt myself, especially when I experienced being spoken over during calls while working at more corporate offices. Transitioning into consulting has lessened this issue somewhat, but there are still occasions, depending on the client and situation, where I notice the presence of ego or challenging dynamics of prevalent male personalities.

You refer to yourself as a “data-driven product geek”. Could you elaborate on that?

I’m deeply passionate about data because it gives me clear and evidence-based guidance to make informed decisions. Data helps me spot trends, understand how people behave, and measure the effectiveness of different strategies that we apply. I am really passionate about products because I like to understand the user experience and am keen on making things perfect.

” At 66degrees, we as consultants are delivering and creating products that enhance the client’s experience. I want the journey for clients, powered by data, to be amazing and meaningful. “

How many cities have you called home and what lessons did each one teach you?

Living in 12 separate cities throughout my life has been a diverse journey, with each one providing a unique chapter in my book of life. Among these experiences, several stand out as particularly impactful. Growing up and living in different places in Colorado instilled in me confidence, understanding, and a deep love for nature. Studying abroad in Costa Rica allowed me to appreciate diversity and embrace global perspectives. Living in Southern California, specifically in Santa Monica and Long beach, introduced me to urban influence and new opportunities. However, the most profound impact has been where I reside now. Settling in Western North Carolina, I’ve discovered a sense of belonging, community, and true peace, anchoring me in contentment and fulfillment, in a place I can proudly call home.

Caught wind of your volunteer efforts in animal rescue. Are you an animal lover?

Absolutely! I have two dogs, a standard Golden Retriever and an English Cream Golden Retriever named Butters and Beans. I have a deep love for all animals, but dogs hold a special place in my heart. In fact, my long-term goal is to establish a mini farm sanctuary specifically for golden retrievers. I’m passionate about supporting animal rescues, both locally and abroad, and I frequently donate to these organizations. Being an advocate for dog rescues abroad is particularly important to me, as I believe every dog deserves a loving home and a chance at a better life.

Of all the milestones you’ve achieved at 66degrees, which one stands out the most?

Of all the milestones achieved at 66degrees, one that holds a special place in my heart is the growth of the DM team to where it stands today. This accomplishment is particularly meaningful because it represents not only the expansion of our team but also the development of each member within it. Watching the team evolve, flourish, and thrive has been immensely rewarding.

” It’s a testament to our collective efforts, dedication, and shared vision of delivering excellence in our work. Seeing the impact we’ve made together fuels my passion for our mission and reinforces my commitment to fostering growth and success within the team.”

What’s next for you to achieve in your career?

My long term vision for delivery management is to continue scaling and expanding our DM team. I want to keep doing awesome work for our clients, fostering strong partnerships, and delivering value-driven results. My goal is to help take 66degrees to new heights by focusing on excellence in delivery management and using data-driven strategies to get us there!
