Can you tell us about your background in mechanical engineering?
I am fond of working with machines and fixing them, which triggered my interest in DIY projects, both personally and professionally. This naturally led me into pursuing mechanical engineering and later specialize in automation and robotics. Operations and engineering go hand in hand, as they involve practical applications. While this new role is a shift for me, I previously focused on overseeing engineering delivery and operations.
Can you share a bit about your journey at 66degrees?
I consider myself a workaholic, driven by getting the job done right. I’m also a multitasker. I kickstarted my journey at 66degrees as a Business Analyst, and in no time, I found myself running projects. I transitioned from managing projects and leading technical discussions with clients to overseeing the MSP practice, where I took on responsibilities in account management, presales, and partnership management. At one point, I was handling tasks typically done by 7-8 people in the organization. Additionally, I gained invaluable experience by being part of the company’s mergers and acquisitions.
In such a fast paced business, how do you prioritize your time?
I prioritize tasks based on the complexity and risk factor. High risk tasks get the first priority and subsequent tasks are completed before the set timeline. I do not prolong any work that is assigned to me. I make sure it is off my table before I go to bed, as I wouldn’t be able to sleep, otherwise. I delegate tasks that don’t require my close attention, guiding the team through their completion. This not only frees up my time but also serves as a valuable learning opportunity for the team.
What is a 66degrees career milestone that stands out to you?
Expanding in Bangalore is close to my heart as we eagerly awaited this expansion. We finally get to see the team and the company grow in the region. That, to me, is a significant milestone. Expanding is always a challenge and needs to be dealt with patience, something I think I imbibed from playing golf. Coordination and trust plays a key role while collaborating with global heads. After all, it’s a learning curve for everyone.
How do you keep yourself entertained outside of work?
I am an outdoor person. I like to keep myself engaged in competitive sports, be it tennis or golf. Right now it’s golf but I do play tennis for fun with my friends. I have been playing tennis at the national level since school, participating in the National School Games and representing my university. After my competitive tennis days, I started playing golf and quickly became hooked. I am currently a 1 handicap.
